Booklikes-opoly 5/25 roll

I rolled a 9 and landed on New Orleans 19 - Visit the Haunted Mansion.

So, now I need a book tagged gothic, horror, or a ghost story.

What if an operation could make you a genius?

Review:

Flowers for Algernon - Daniel Keyes

Well, I finished. The book was fascinating. To see the changes in Charlie as he goes from being intellectually disabled with an IQ of around 70, to a genius. His different emotions and experiences are portrayed beautifully by the author. As a reader, we see the changes in the language Charlie uses in his progress reports and in the content as well. The book was touching and sad in places, but not as sad as I expected (which was good). I'm not a fan of tearjerkers.

It wasn't a favorite of mine, but it was an interesting and quick read. I was anxious to see what would happen to Charlie (and his mouse friend, Algernon).

I read this book for Booklikes-opoly - Main Steet 11 (an author born before 1955).

On to the next roll...

Dark Tower Book 2 Review

Review:

The Drawing of the Three (Dark Tower II) - Stephen King, Frank Muller

I liked this book better than the first one because I felt like it moved faster and was more exciting. But I did not like the narrator, Frank Muller. Looks like he narrates Book 3 & 4 as well. :(  But I'm not giving up, maybe I'll get used to him.

Booklikes-opoly 5/22 roll

Okay... another roll of 6 and I landed on Main Street USA 11.

I chose to read a book written by an author who was born before 1955: Daniel Keyes (1927-2014). I'm going to read Flowers for Algernon which (believe it or not), I have never read. So, thank you Booklikes-opoly.

(I tried to post this last night, but Booklikes was unbearably slow....)
